Lake Piru

Lake Piru is located in the Los Padres National Forest about 50 miles north of Los Angeles. The lake is owned by the United Water Conservation District, which serves the water needs of nearby Oxnard, Ventura, and surrounding communities.

Boating

Lake Piru is a great place to go boating close to Los Angeles yet often without the crowds found at other nearby lakes. Water skiers have a designated section of the lake. Most water sports are permitted, including personal watercraft. The warm waters make water skiing possible year-round. Sailboats respond well to the afternoon breeze.

Marinas

There is one marina at Lake Piru. It has a launch ramp, boat rentals, store, and other necessities.

Fishing

Lake Piru is home to largemouth bass, rainbow trout, bluegill, channel catfish, and crappie. Anglers like the quieter waters of Lake Piru compared to other regional lakes even if Piru doesn't have a reputation for record fish. Fishing boats can be rented at the marina.

Campgrounds

Lake Piru's single campground has small sites spaced closely together without much privacy.

Lake Piru is a picturesque lake with bold mountains rising from its shores and colorful wildflowers in the spring. A number of deep, inviting coves wind off from the main body of water.

The small community of Piru is the nearest town to Lake Piru. 13 miles from the lake is the city of Fillmore with a population of about 14,000. There you will find all the basic services and stores you might need to supply your stay at Lake Piru.
